
UN agencies and international institutions
When natural or man-made disasters strike, food aid is not the only priority. With water, hygiene and emergency shelter also urgently needed, the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ (WFP) works side by side with other international organizations, including specialist UN agencies. Likewise, non-food resources are also necessary in development projects.
ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳coordinates with other agencies, often through the UN Development Assistance Framework, so that their efforts complement one another. Agencies such as the , the , and the provide technical assistance in their specific areas of expertise. In countries where we distribute food to refugees or internally displaced people, we have a strong operational partnership with the .
ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳has a special relationship with the other two Rome-based UN agencies ¨C the and the ¨C with which it shares a common vision of promoting food security by alleviating hunger through food assistance, while working to eliminate its root causes.
We also work closely with other international and regional organizations, such as the , the . International financial institutions like the support us through funding.
ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳has a partnership with the programme, which allows us to engage UN Volunteers and Online Volunteers to support our work to achieve Zero Hunger.
