This report provides a preliminary analysis of the socio-economic impacts of the current political crisis in Niger.

On July 26, 2023, a coup d¡¯¨¦tat took place in Niger. As a result, on July 30, commercial and financial sanctions were issued by ECOWAS and WAEMU. Immediately following the coup, most development partners paused or suspended their development assistance. This report provides a preliminary analysis of the socio-economic impacts of those events. It is work-in-progress, jointly carried out by the World Bank and the ÐÓ°ÉÂÛ̳ during September 2023, based on data available to the two organizations. The report will be updated as the situation evolves.
